Our Story
It was summer, 2019. Michaela was pondering probabilities as a Kenyon research assistant while Bryce juggled multiple jobs, scraping pennies for college. Though their lives were full, they longed for someone to share them with. And so, they opened Bumble.
Finding a best friend is easier said than done, especially through a handful of prompts and photos. But every once in a while, you stumble upon someone who you'd rather not live without.
It almost didn't happen. Michaela was feeling jaded with the swiping when Bryce sent her his last rose. She saw it and thought "A rose? Maybe this one is serious. I'll give him the time of day."
And so they met. Coming from opposite directions on middle path, in Gambier, Ohio, both unsure of who they were really meeting for the first time. Bryce's first move was a good old handshake. And to his surprise Michaela accepted it. And so their first date began. What came next was a walk in the woods, a homemade meal, a sky full of stars above an old locomotive, and a kiss.
Since then, a lot has changed. Three degrees, two dogs, and seven apartments later, we have finally re-settled together in Columbus, OH, with Bryce finishing residency and Michaela progressing as a software engineer.
Bryce did not dream he'd find the one back home, an adventurous, open, and curious Pennsylvanian who could keep pace with a patient, ambitious, and equally adventurous spirit, but we've been fortunate to have deepened our connection and lives together no matter the distances and time. As we look towards next year we can't wait to have you join us in celebrating with us and gathering for a night of family, friendship, and community!
